When installing a 1955-62 235/261 CID full pressure engine in place of the original 1954 or earlier 6-cylinder, this one time conversion allows you to put the early style water pump on the later engine. We also offer a shortened shaft water pump for the late 235CID, but this requires that you use a different fan blade and the fan will no longer be in the original position, but 3" lower. By using this adapter with a 1941-54 water pump, the pump and fan are back in the stock location and uses the stock fan blade. It is recommended that you use the harmonic balancer and water pump from your original engine. Caution: Do not use the 1955-62 balancer since the pulley is larger and will turn the pump too fast.
